We are delighted that these four highly experienced people have agreed to judge the MAKE Award in 2025.

The judges are:

Lisa Cahill is the Executive Director (CEO and Artistic Director) of Australian Design Centre. Since 2016, she has raised more than four million dollars in funding to support ADC’s work. As a curator, writer and creative producer, she has developed and presented nine annual creative programs, including more than 160 exhibitions, founded and directed the annual Sydney Craft Week Festival and is the co-producer and host of ADC’s podcast series.

Prior to her 25-year career in the arts sector, Lisa held various government positions in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney and produced several independent theatre productions and visual art projects. Lisa is currently co-chair of the Australian Craft and Design Centres Network. She holds a Bachelor of Communications in Professional Writing at the University of Canberra and a Master of Arts Administration from UNSW and is a Fellow of the Gordon Darling Foundation Museum Leadership Program.

Simone LeAmon is the inaugural Curator of Contemporary Design and Architecture at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (NGV). A curator, designer and educator for near to three decades, she is Adjunct Professor in the School of Design and Social Context, RMIT University and is the recipient of the 2021 Good Designs Australia, Women in Design Award. Her accumulated activities have brought her global recognition and significantly, fostered vital understanding of the contemporary design scene in Australia in view of a broad national and international audience. LeAmon has worked on an extensive program of exhibitions and events at NGV since 2015 including, the annual Melbourne Design Week, Melbourne Design Fair, Rigg Design Prize, NGV Triennial and Melbourne Now.

Brian Parkes has been CEO at JamFactory in Adelaide since April 2010. He has overseen significant development of the organisation’s exhibition and training programs and substantial growth in its audience and operational budget. He is passionate about the social, cultural and economic value of art, craft and design and has worked in senior curatorial and commercial management roles in the visual art, craft and design sector in Australia for over 30 years, including stints at the Australian Design Centre, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the National Gallery of Australia. He has curated numerous exhibitions focused on contemporary Australian craft and design and has remained active in mentoring and supporting emerging artists, designers and creative entrepreneurs over the past two decades.

Vipoo Srivilasa, a Thai-born, Melbourne-based artist, is recognised as a leader in the field of ceramics. Over the past two decades, Vipoo has explored complex themes of queerness, migration, community, and spirituality, with a focus on creating accessible, positive, and beautiful works.

His works have been exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the L'Alcora Ceramics Museum in Spain, and the National Gallery of Thailand. His ceramics are part of collections worldwide, including the Henan Museum in China, the Roopankar Museum of Fine Arts in India, the UK’s Craft Council, and the National Gallery of Australia.

Vipoo Srivilasa was the winner of the inaugural MAKE Award: Biennial Prize for Innovation for Australian Craft and Design in 2023.
